We understand the need for high quality advice and guidance on HR matters that you hope are not routine.

Contracts Management & Payroll Interface

We provide a unique interface between the schools we support and our payroll partner, Dataplan.

Health & Wellbeing Service

Our school-centred Occupational Health (OH) service is designed to meet the needs of schools, and employees, to support staff getting back to work.

Investigations Service

We offer an independent investigations service to investigate serious disciplinary, grievance, safeguarding, and SATs maladministration matters.

Recruitment Services

Our managed advertising and recruitment service, offered under our "Crinkle Recruitment" brand, offers value-for-money specialist education recruitment.

SIMS Services

We work with a wide range of independent and affiliated education consultants with proven expertise and knowledge within their field.

About

The Schools HR Co-operative is an independent school-specific HR service based in the London Borough of Hillingdon. In 2011 we transferred out of the local authority and now support over 120 schools and academies within Hillingdon, our neighbouring West London boroughs, and Thames Valley counties.

Our aim is to support schools and academies to effectively manage their human resources to the best effect so that they can focus on their core objective of enabling the children in their care to receive a better education, with improved life chances, in a safe environment.

Who we are

Our experienced team of casework advisors, contracts advisors, HR investigators, and business support specialists ensure that all your HR needs are looked after. Our team’s combined experience supporting schools with their HR needs is significant, and we understand the challenges that schools face managing their human resources.

Our Chief Executive, Bob Charlton, has almost 20 years’ experience supporting schools with their HR needs. Originally a ‘headhunter’ recruiting engineers and technicians during the construction of the London Docklands, Bob has qualifications in HR, Project Management (PRINCE2), and Coaching (NLP). Bob has a degree in Civil & Structural Engineering from University College Cardiff (now the University of Wales).

Our “family” of services

Alongside our Crinkle Recruitment brand, we also offer support and guidance in the use of the SIMS software, including updates and patch management through our accredited SIMS for Schools service. Our SIMS for Schools service can be contacted on 01895 717 701.

We also work closely with the independent Governor Support Service who provide school governance training, advice, guidance, and support. The Governor Support Service can be contacted on 01895 717 321.

January 2011

Following changes to the delivery of HR services to schools, the specialist Personnel Service for Schools (PSS) in Hillingdon is being reviewed.

May 2011

With the support of local Headteachers the Hillingdon PSS ‘transfers out’ of the local authority, and The Schools HR Co-operative is born!

April 2012

Our school-centric Health & Wellbeing Service is launched, in partnership with an Occupational Health (OH) provider, to manage pre-employment medical checks, deliver locally-based OH clinics, and offer physiotherapy sessions where appropriate.

April 2015

Due to increasing requests from schools we begin offering an impartial Disciplinary & Grievance Investigation Service. Our team of investigators have significant experience with managing complex and sensitive employment-related investigations.

We continue to grow the number and geographic spread of schools we support, and in 2016 start working with further schools in Hounslow, Harrow, Brent, Barnet, and Oxfordshire.

We welcome the SIMS for Schools service into the company as a result of the cessation of the Hillingdon Grid for Learning. The SIMS for Schools service provides general and technical support for all Capita SIMS.net modules.

The team celebrates five years since The Schools HR Co-operative began, and we reflect on where we have been and focus on the next stage of our company’s journey.

Following internal refurbishment works The Schools HR Co-operative move into our 17th Century Grade II listed building. Formerly the King’s Head Public House, our team are excited to move into a space with such interesting history! Our SIMS for Schools service continue to be based in a local school.

November 2017

We ‘soft launch’ our Crinkle Recruitment brand with our Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) recruitment portal as we begin enhancing our approach to recruitment for teaching and support staff.

Our SIMS for Schools service receives Capita’s SIMS Accreditation recognising the high-quality support the service provides to schools. Feedback from schools during the accreditation process included:“Put simply, I don’t know how our school would manage without them!” and “All the team appreciate the issue we face in a school environment … an excellent team”.

Following a period of extensive testing Crinkle Recruitment launches, replacing the ‘Schools HR’ jobs board.

February 2020

Following a review of our website, a refreshed secure portal featuring enhanced tools and content for our schools is launched. Changes include making content more accessible in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and introducing online subscription renewal services.

In early May 2021 we celebrated our 10th Anniversary! Unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions at the time, the company celebration was deferred until later in the year. This important company milestone gave us a chance to consider what we had achieved since May 2011, and what more we could do to support the educational settings we work with into the future.

September 2022

Following the introduction of a hybrid working model, we were pleased to welcome our SIMS for Schools colleagues into our main office building. This has provided greater opportunities for collaborative working and provides an enhanced training delivery space for our training delegates.
